MOBILE & MANUFACTURED HOMES · QUOTE PREPARATION
Mobile home insurance: prepare the home details first
Accurate information about how your home was built, installed and used helps an agent identify suitable coverage. Before comparing premiums, confirm the home type, insured value, claim-settlement method and treatment of additions or a planned move.
Describe the home rather than guessing the category
Mobile, manufactured and modular are not interchangeable descriptions for quoting. Share the year built, manufacturer or model if available, dimensions and construction details. Explain the foundation or installation arrangement and whether you own the home and the land.
If you are unsure how the home is classified, tell the agent. Records from the purchase or manufacturer may help. Do not assume a factory-built home always belongs on the same insurance form as a site-built house.
Review the home and the life inside it
A mobile or manufactured home policy commonly combines coverage for the home, belongings, liability and eligible extra living expenses after a covered loss. Detached structures and attached additions need their own discussion. Ask how porches, decks, carports, sheds and other improvements are described.
Compare the limit with the policy’s settlement method. Replacement-cost and actual-cash-value provisions can produce different payments because actual cash value accounts for depreciation. Ask separately about the home, roof and contents; do not assume the same settlement basis applies to all three.
Discuss occupancy and transport before they change
Explain whether you live in the home year-round, use it seasonally, rent it out or expect it to sit vacant. Mention repairs or renovation work. Eligibility and required notices depend on the insurer and the way the property is used.
A policy for a home at its current location does not automatically settle the question of coverage while it is being transported. Ask about the move before scheduling it, including the trip, setup and the new location. Any transport option must be confirmed for the specific policy; no particular endorsement is promised here.
Have a concise property record ready
Gather the address, year and size of the home, roof age and material, heating and electrical details, installation information and any major updates. Keep a current policy, lender instructions and desired start date available. The website inquiry only needs enough information to start contact; share ownership or financial documents through a method the team recommends.
Ask explicitly about wind/hail deductibles, flood, earthquake and water damage. Some risks require another policy or optional coverage. Maintenance and age-related deterioration should not be mistaken for insured damage.
Our Lubbock office serves Texas, New Mexico and Oklahoma. Coverage availability and inspection requirements vary by state, home and insurer. A quote request does not bind coverage.
Questions for your agent
- Which policy type fits this home and its current use?
- How are attached additions, detached structures and roof losses valued?
- What protection applies during a move, if any?
- What information or inspection is needed before the proposed effective date?
