COVERAGE TO CONSIDER

Read Vermont’s liability and UM/UIM limits separately.

Vermont’s minimum liability limits are $25,000 per person and $50,000 per accident for bodily injury, plus $10,000 for property damage. The required uninsured/underinsured motorist bodily injury minimum is $50,000/$100,000. Uninsured motorist property damage is a separate $10,000 coverage with deductible conditions.

Ask which coverage addresses damage to your car.

Vermont’s consumer guide distinguishes collision from comprehensive, which addresses specified non-collision losses such as animal contact. Ask the team to explain the deductible and terms for the scenarios you want to understand, instead of relying on the phrase full coverage.

COVERAGE TO CONSIDER

Account for a different driver or season.

Tell the team about changes in household drivers, commute, mileage or where the vehicle is kept. Keep the requested start date and current policy expiration together. Compare the total term premium using the same coverage selections.

COMMON QUESTIONS

Vermont
coverage questions.

Why are Vermont’s liability and uninsured motorist limits different?

They are different required coverages with different minimum amounts. Ask the team to explain what each protects and which limits are shown on your quote.

Does a quote show that I am insured for tomorrow’s trip?

No. Confirm the policy is issued and its effective date is correct before relying on it. Save the insurance documents supplied by the insurer.
